The crème de la crème of the style industry was out in force last night, to celebrate the British Fashion Awards.
Taking place at Lawrence Hall in Westminster, the star-studded event saw a stylish line-up take to a Swarovski crystal-strewn black carpet to celebrate the best of British fashion talent.
So who picked up the prizes? Bagging the evening's top honour, Luella Bartley took home the Designer of the Year title, while Louise Goldin was tapped to follow in her footsteps, as the recipient of the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award.
The evening attracted a glamorous line-up of supermodels, including Claudia Schiffer, Laura Bailey and Yasmin le Bon, but it was newcomer Jourdan Dunn who was the talk of the evening, cementing her status as the next big thing by picking up Model of the Year.
Other mentions went out to Matthew Williamson, who picked up Red Carpet Designer of the year, while Best Designer Brand was won by Jimmy Choo.
Honouring his contribution to the industry Stephen Jones was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, presented to him by his friend and muse Erin O'Connor.
With stylistas, models and designers all in attendance, the evening proved again to be one of the most glamorous on the fashion calendar.

Cruise reveals love for paparazzi
Tuesday, November 25, 2008

While most Hollywood stars battle to shield their kids from the waiting paparazzi, Tom Cruise has revealed that he loves the shots they take of his daughter Suri.
Speaking to an Australian magazine, Cruise revealed 'I have to say some of those paparazzi shots of my daughter are incredible.'
He added, 'As a parent you protect your children but Suri is a very open and warm child and she will just wave to people on the street. She is such happy, fun girl.'
Two-year-old Suri is regularly snapped by the paps, whether out-and-about with mum Katie Holmes or with her dad.
Often touted as one of Hollywood's most stylish tots, Cruise divulged that she already has a say in her outfit choices.
'I'd put a pair of pants on her and the next minute and turn around and the pants are off and a dress is on... So she's very much a real girl. In fact yesterday Kate finally did get her into pants for the first time.'
Opening up on future plans, he quashed rumours that Katie is already pregnant, but did confirm, 'yes, we will have more children.'
'But now I'm making movies and Kate is loving being on Broadway because it has been a dream of hers, so we are enjoying this time too,' he added.

Hosted by US comedian Jimmy Kimmel, the glittering awards do lit up downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night and drew in a younger musician crowd than ever before.
Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift and Rihanna all made an appearance at the awards do, but it was veteran Christina Aguilera who showed them how it's done, opening the show with a medley of her hits.

A baby boy named Bronx for Ashlee!
Friday, November 21, 2008

As baby names go, this has to be one of the best we’ve heard all year – Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz had a son this week and called him Bronx Mowgli Wentz…
Isn’t the Bronx a really rough area of New York? And wasn’t Mowgli the boy from the Jungle Book? Who was raised by a pack of wolves?!
We’re not saying anything about Ashlee and Pete’s parenting skills, but perhaps they should've given their son’s name a little more consideration.
Still, if they have another boy, they could always call him Harlem Tarzan.
Joking aside, we’re pleased the couple had a healthy baby boy.
Bronx Mowgli Wentz weighed in at 7lbs, 11oz and mother and baby are 'doing well' a spokesman for the couple told People magazine.
Singer Ashlee, 24 and Pete, 29, married in May this year and announced her pregnancy a few weeks later.
'I would love to have a big family one day,' Ashley said at the time.
'A big soccer team or a band!' added Wentz, the bass player from Fall Out Boy.
Congratulations to the new parents and commiserations to Bronx Mowgli!

HUGH JACKMAN IS SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!
Thursday, November 20, 2008

He's talented, gorgeous, caring and leaves women stammering 'Oh… my… God…' according to his co-star Nicole Kidman – no wonder Hugh Jackman has just bagged the title of sexiest man alive!
The 40-year-old star toppled perennial favourites Brad Pitt and George Clooney to reach the number one spot in People magazine's prestigious poll.
But the star is charmingly unfazed by his sudden sex god status.
'When I was younger, I had chicken legs. My nickname was Sticks!' he laughs.
However, his wife of 12 years, Deborah-Lee Furness, wasn't surprised when Hugh was awarded his new title.
'God bless her. She said, "I could've told them that years ago." And then she said, "Obviously, Brad wasn't available this year." And I said, "That was a joke, right?"' he tells People.
The Australian actor also lifts the lid on his sex life, admitting that his wife likes him to stay in costume.
'It makes her feel like she's having an affair in a good way. When we met, I was cast as a prisoner with tattoos and she'd say, "Don't take your tattoos off tonight" and I'd be like, "All right".'
The 6ft 2in star beat British beefcake Daniel Craig into second place (that's one wrestling match we'd like to watch…) and left other hunks including Brad Pitt, Zac Efron and David Beckham standing.
Hugh stars in the new epic film Australia with Nicole Kidman. 'Women's jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room,' she says of her countryman.
One lucky woman who saw a huge amount of Hugh was his daughter's nanny.
'I didn't wear anything to bed until my daughter was born and we had a night nanny because I was working. I walked out stark naked, and she was reading a book. Now I like boxer briefs,' he reveals.
OK. That's it. We’re quitting our jobs and moving to Oz to work as a night nanny!
Other men who made the list include Simon Cowell, George Clooney, Lewis Hamilton, Gordon Ramsay, Sting, Christian Bale, Sting, Bear Gryllis, Matthew McConaughey and Prince Harry.

John Sergeant quits Strictly
Wednesday, November 19, 2008

John Sergeant, former ITV political editor, has quit Strictly Come Dancing, after a three-day attack from the programme's judges over his continuing presence on the show.
Dubbed the 'dancing pig', the 64-year-old has decided to pull out of this year's show – despite being favourite to take the dance title – after the severity of criticism from the judging panel.
In a statement, Sergeant said: 'The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far.'
Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, who led the onslaught against the dance contender, commented on the news saying: 'I'm always sad if a contestant leaves of choice, because you are always expecting to let the public vote them in or out - but John is his own person and he has his own reasons for doing this.'
When asked if Phillips felt responsible for Sergeant's departure she replied: 'Not really. If you look back, we've actually been quite nice on this programme.'
While she admitted that the former political correspondent had provided the public with many 'funny, funny moments' there was no doubting that the judges were becoming increasingly frustrated with his continuing success on the show.
Sergeant continued his statement saying: 'It was always my intention to have fun on the show and I was hoping to stay in as long as possible.'
He thanked Russian dance partner Kristina Rihanoff and 'all those viewers who have been rooting for me through the series'.
Earlier today it was revealed that BBC bosses had made a change in the rules to stop dancers like Sergeant getting so far in future competitions.
The new rules mean a contestant who finishes bottom of the judges' leader board three weeks in a row will be automatically ejected, without the chance to save themselves in a dance off.
A source told the Daily Express, 'Rule changes are definitely afoot for the next series and the one that is being discussed would certainly please the judges because it would give them more power.'
The new rules won't come into play until the next series, but Sergeant has already decided to take matters into his own hands and quit the show.
If the news has brought a tear to your eye, don't panic, Sergeant will make his final appearance on Saturday night's show before taking his final bow.

Katy Perry had a boob job

Katy Perry has rubbished rumours she’s had a boob job.
The I Kissed A Girl singer says she can think of better things to spend her cash on.
‘How could people think these are fake? Look at 'em. Ask them! They are as real as real can be,’ she tells The Sun.
‘One hundred per cent genuine and untouched... well sort of.
‘I would never spend money on fake boobs. Shoes, maybe. A handbag, maybe. But plastic t*ts – no way!’
But Katy, 24, hasn’t ruled out having work done in the future.
‘I am not against people who get things done,' she adds. 'A tuck or a lift never hurt anyone.
'In 50 years time I may look like a Siamese cat in a wind tunnel but as of this moment I haven't and the rack is real.’

X FACTOR FASHION ROUND-UP
Monday, November 17, 2008

The competition is heating up on the X Factor, but it's as much about the style now as the singing.
The four remaining female contestants may have been battling it out on the stage, but we all know that it's their fashion picks that really gets the nation talking.
For yet another week, we have to applaud Alexandra's stylist for her sartorial choices. In a Reiss bustier dress (that the marieclaire.co.uk desk has been lusting after for weeks), the singer looked stunning, although we'd have ditched the purple belt and kept things simple.
Making a welcome return, Diana may not have been on form vocally, but she looked pretty-as-a-picture in her nude Topshop minidress.
Rachel meanwhile made a vast improvement on previous weeks, ditching the ill-fitting dresses for a pair of sharp tailored trousers and a Karen Millen blouse. Full marks for fashion progress, but next time ditch the contrast pink shoes.
Saving the worst till last, we are left with Ruth. Her prom dress looked more suited to Halloween, with its shredded skirt and tea-stained shade. All she needed was some fake blood, and the look would have been pure corpse bride.
Of course the fiercest fashion competition has to be reserved for the judges, Danni Minogue and Cheryl Cole, as both battle it out for the title of most glamorous. This week, there was no contest, and Dannii won with flying colours, for her blue maxi dress, red heels and sweet side-swept bun.
As much as it pains us to say, Cheryl wasn't quite so successful. Her bizarre white dress with cut-away sleeves was a harsh choice. Not to load on the criticism, but the heavy make-up, particularly her garish pink lips, really didn’t help matters.
Less slap, more style, next week please Mrs Cole.
Last up, and this week's celebrity guest, Leona Lewis, took to the stage in a frothy concoction of a dress just didn't hit the right spot. We like the strapless shape on her, but the full skirt, which cut short at the front and graduated to a longer back looked more pantomime than prime-time TV.

Victoria's Secret in Trouble
Friday, November 14, 2008

Victoria's Secret – the US underwear giant – may be taken to court by dozens of women who claim the bras brought them out in painful rashes and red welts on their skin.
One woman says she has been left permanently scarred after wearing the Angels Secret Embrace bra, reports The Telegraph.
Roberta Ritter, 37, claims the bra brought her out in red, inflamed, blistery welts.
'It itched profusely. I couldn't sleep and was waking up itching,' she said.
The leading lingerie firm uses supermodels such as Giselle and Heidi Klum to promote their range of underwear.
Now the company faces a class action from dozens of women who say their skin has also been affected after wearing the bra.
After launching her lawsuit against Victoria's Secret, Roberta says she was contacted by many women who suffered similar symptoms. The group are now waiting to hear if they can launch a class action.
Roberta's lawyers said they have had the bra tested and a laboratory found traces of formaldehyde in the underwear. The chemical is often used to prevent fabrics creasing.
However, Victoria's Secret has denied the use formaldehyde in the manufacturing process.
'We have strict quality controls around our products, and we do not use formaldehyde in our bras,' the company said in a statement.
A US judge will decide next year if Roberta's case can be heard, plus whether the women can bring a class action against the underwear giant.

LINDSAY TO ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT
Thursday, November 13, 2008

Lindsay Lohan and her girlfriend Samantha Ronson are due to make their relationship official by announcing their engagement, it has been claimed.
The pair will make the announcement while in Paris this week, the Sun newspaper reported.
Lindsay and Sam are currently on a promotional tour of Europe. Sam is down to dj tonight at celebrity hotspot Chinawhite and the couple are due to fly to Paris by private jet after Sam's gig.
A source told a different newspaper, 'After spending weeks discussing rings, they want to visit two leading jewellers in Paris with their finalised design.'
However, it's not the first time the Mean Girls star has been rumoured to be engaged to her girlfriend.
Earlier this year, she was spotted wearing a ring on her wedding finger, sparking stories that the couple had already taken their relationship to the next level.
But the source said this time, it's for real; 'It’s something they’ve been working on and naturally they’re really excited.'
If the pair do decide to tie the knot, at least they won't have to worry about music at the wedding – Sam's brother Mark Ronson should be able to spin a few tunes without any trouble!

Jennifer Aniston Breaks Silence About Brad & Angelina
Wednesday, November 12, 2008

For years she's maintained a dignified silence about the woman her husband left her for, but Jennifer Aniston has finally spoken up about Angelina Jolie – calling her 'uncool' and 'inappropriate'.
The star opened her heart in an interview with US Vogue, and not only talks about Jolie, but also her divorce from Brad Pitt, and her subsequent relationships with Vince Vaughn and John Mayer.
But, firstly, back to Angelina. The Tombraider star famously gave an interview to the same magazine, where she talked about falling in love with Brad on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. Until that time, Jolie and Pitt maintained they only fell in love after Brad's split from Jen.
Aniston said: ''There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening.
'I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss. That stuff about how she couldn't wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool.'
Jennifer had warmer words for her ex-husband, saying: 'I have nothing but absolute admiration for him, and I'm proud of him,' she said.
'We have exchanged a few very kind hellos and wishing you wells and sending you love and congratulations on your babies.'
And she described their divorce as 'amicable'. She explained: 'Well, it never was that bad.
'I mean, look, it's not like divorce is something that you go, "Oooh, I can't wait to get divorced!" It doesn't feel like a tickle.
'But I've got to tell you, it's so vague at this point, it's so faraway in my mind, I can't even remember the darkness.
'I mean, in the end, we really had an amicable split. It wasn't mean and hateful and all of this stuff that they tried to create about Brad can't talk to Jen and Jen can't talk to Brad because this person won't allow it. It just didn't happen. The marriage didn't work out.
'And pretty soon after we separated, we got on the phone and we had a long, long conversation with each other and said a lot of things, and ever since we've been unbelievably warm and respectful of each other.'
She added: 'Whoever said everything has to be forever, that's setting your hopes too high. It's too much pressure. And I think if you put that pressure on - yourself - because I did!
'Fairy tale! It has to be the right one! - that's unattainable.'
Jen also says she's proud of her love life – and isn't the poor lonely victim she's portrayed to be in the press. She said: 'This whole "Poor lonely Jen" thing, this idea that I'm so unlucky in love? I actually feel I've been unbelievably lucky in love.
'Just because at this stage my life doesn't have the traditional framework to it - the husband and the two kids and the house in Connecticut - it's mine.
'It's my experience. And if you don't like the way it looks, then stop looking at it! Because I feel good. I don't feel like I'm supposed to be any further along or somewhere that I'm not. I'm right where I'm supposed to be.'
Talking of love post-Brad, Jen described Vince Vaughn – whom she dated for two years after her marriage split – as her 'defibrillator'. She said: 'He literally brought me back to life. My first gasp of air was a big laugh! It was great. I love him. He's a bull in a china shop. He was lovely and fun and perfect for the time we had together.
'And I needed that. And it sort of ran its course.'
So what of new love, singer John Mayer? 'We care about each other. It's funny when you hit a place in a relationship and you both realise, "We maybe need to do something else," but you still really, really love each other.
'It's painful. There was no malicious intent. I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that's where it is.'
And, finally, the actress re-affirmed that she does want children one day, adding: 'I've said it so many times: I'm going to have children. I just know it.'
